Children & Youth

We welcome young people and young families. Children’s church begins during the 10:30 service. Children go to their own area, where they explore the stories of the bible in conversation and in hands-on activities.

ST. GEORGE’S YOUTH FESTIVAL CHOIR

We are in the process of forming a Young People’s Choir. The purpose is to encourage young people to strive for musical excellence, while instilling a deep love for music, true respect for themselves and their peers, and to learn the discipline necessary to become leaders and active participants in society.

For information please speak to our music director, Surinder Mundra.

CONFIRMATION FOR YOUTH

Youth ages 12 and up are encouraged to speak to our priest, The Rev. Susan Spicer about confirmation classes. This is a hands-on, experiental learning program. We’ll explore creation, visit the cathedral, explore the bible in interactive ways, take part in worship, involve ourselves in serving the community in a service project and prepare for a spectacular celebration with our bishop.

>If you’re an adult and you’ve never been confirmed, there is an opportunity for you as well, to enter into a confirmation process. This is a great way to reboot your faith, ask questions, and go deeper. Please let Rev. Susan know if you’re interested in Adult confirmation.

Early in December we have a pre-Christmas potluck lunch. We usually have a visit from a jolly man in a red suit, so we ask that anyone bringing a child let us know the child’s name in advance. We also have an annual pageant, in which children enact the Christmas story.

As our children outgrow Sunday School, they are encouraged to participate in worship in other ways. One of those is as acolytes (carrying candles in procession and assisting at the altar). Youth who are interested in this ministry are encouraged to talk to Rev. Susan.
